Tropical

Bright colors and floral patterns are perfect for the summer.
Just a simple hot summer day sitting outside of my aunt's house. I did absolutely nothing because it was entirely too hot out so once the sun went down I went out and sat in front for a few talking to family and old friends.

Where I've been

Hey guys I know it's been a while since I've posted anything.  Since I returned home from school my time has pretty much been consumed in family and friends.  At the end of May my brother was hurt really badly and two weeks ago he transitioned, so yeah I've been through a lot.  But that should be about it, you shouldn't be hearing anymore bad news from me for a while, this has just been a crazy year. Regular posts will begin soon as I actually plan to relaunch my blog, I'm actually considering deleting everything from the archives and starting over completely; I need a fresh start to compliment this new point in my life.

Who Runs the World? GIRLS

Yesterday Beyonce' did what I believe is her best performance to date; she performed her newest single "Girls Run the World" at the 2011 Billboard awards.
Before this performance I liked this song now I love this song, it's so empowering and I got very amped watching it.
Beyonce' was also honored with the Billboard Millennium Award which I believe she completely deserved.
Here is the full Beyonce' Girls Run the World Billboard performance that I snagged off of YouTube, you won't regret watching this I promise.
Enjoy ;)

Another friend gone

Another day, more problems.
Someone I've known for 13 years gone right before my eyes.
This may seem like something that I would be used to by now but it is still so new to me.
Never people this close, but it is a challenge that's all; and I have faith.
David Worthy was more like a brother to me, much more than a friend.
He did everything an older brother would do attempted to help with homework and never expected me to get a boyfriend.
When we were younger we called him David W. not to get him confused with David J., the boy that always used the bathroom on himself, unless we were joking around.
We're both small people in this big world so eventually we agreed on the name "lollipop kid" for each other, from the Wizard of Oz.
David never let it live down, every time I came around as a child he would chant the song from the movie; little did he know it was going right back to him..lol
So many great memories from playing as kids to reminiscing as adults.
We watched each other grow up, and boy was our lives exciting.
His life will never go without memory in my heart.
And he will live through his pride and joy, his son.
Gone but NEVER forgotten
I love you <3

Update!

Hey, what's up! Yes it's been a while and I know you're probably wondering why.
Well classes ended last week and right now we are in the process of taking finals, but my last final is next week then I will be returning home for the summer. Once I am finish everything I will continue my regular posting and I have a lot of surprises for you all.  A lot of new items to share.  But I guess I should let you know that I am taking summer course at an accredited university at home and I will be working so I won't have maximum free time but it will surely be enough for a few posts weekly.
I also have an amazing project in the works, when everything is set in stone I will share.
So stay tuned for everything and in the meantime drool over this!

The Royal Wedding
Prince William and Kate Middleton
Kate looked very beautiful in her gown. Following tradition, she was very covered up to be but still sexy in her own way.  Everyone that attended the wedding looked amazing as well. And can you believe that Kate did her own makeup? She did a great job.
I know some people may not care that much about the royal wedding, but I like to recognize any historical events that occur in my generation.

Don't we all wish we were in Kate's shoes?

Congrats to the newlyweds

Man of the Hour

Today is my late father's birthday and although it will be one of those hard days we're all going to try out hardest to enjoy it for him.  More smiles and less tears because that is what he would rather see.
For those of you that do not know on May 28, 2010, I lost my father and since then my life has been going in reverse; and honestly I do not believe it will ever be the same. He was young and had a lot left of his life to live.  He had major plans for our family and for himself. He didn't make it to see me off to prom, my high school graduation, or my first day of college all of which he was more than excited for.
I wasn't able to go home for his birthday since I am in school but I will celebrate his life with my family on the memorial of his death.
Honestly it is still hard for me to believe and it just doesn't seem real, even after almost one year.  All of the many memories we've shared are still fresh in my mind.
Every year he chanted "April 15th, April 15th," never letting anyone forget his big day.  He was proud to get older and become wiser.  His voice still rings in my head and everyone else that knew him, which was just about my entire city as well people from all across the country.
On May 28, 2010 I didn't just lose a father but I lost a role model and a friend.  He will always be in my heart and in my mind. He, along with my mother has given me all of the perfect tools I need to make the right decisions succeed in life and I will do nothing but that. I am going to make him proud, and that will not be the last thing I do.

A message for him:
I know you're looking down proud of what we all are becoming, all with big thanks to you.  Don't worry about any of us, we are perfectly fine; the only thing we do not have is you but that is only temporary. Have a big celebration up there, I know you are royalty up there just as you were down here.  Only the best, for the best.  I'll be seeing you one day and joining in with the celebration, but until that day comes just know that
I love you and I miss you.

Inspiration: Red Romper

I saw this on Little Plastic Horses and I fell in love with it.  IDK who it is by and honestly I didn't even search but I want one just like it, well with a little of my own style added to it.  I have a few friends that design clothing, one whom brought my design for a prom dress to life [here], so I think I am gonna use this as inspiration and go with the wind on a summer time fine romper.  Stay posted to see the turn out!

A Little Junkie

A random day at school.  Didn't I look like a junkie? Very punk if you ask me. The sun was shining and the weather was pretty nice but the wind made it feel a bit cooler than it actually was.  I decided to wear a sweater but I still wanted to dress for the weather with a skirt because it is spring, and pants would have been more of a winter look. I paired the sweater with a gray and black cheetah print skirt and gray and black accents.  The pink was very loud so I didn't need any more color.

Crazy Girl

Here are the individual pictures of me that I mentioned in the post below and the post of the original pictures of my friends and I linked below.
I guess I was showing my silly and crazy side in these pictures because none of them were really that regular, lol. It was only for the occasion but I think I looked a little muscular in these pictures and that's probably because in was a challenge keeping my balance when I was pointing my toe; but overall I liked them, especially the last one. It was a fun day :).

Feature #1: ilikemystyle Quarterly issue #4

Very First Feature!

So back in October I was asked to be featured in "ilikemystyle Quarterly" by the team and of course I jumped to the opportunity. My specific article is about beauty because I am working towards being a scientist and I use the things I've learned in class about skin throughout my daily life. At the time when the I was first emailed the current pictures on my blog were of my friends and I, something we used to do often so I was asked to do some shots with my friends and once the photos were finished the entire piece was complete. This is one of the many photos we took which all of them were in this post. I still haven't posted my individuals pictures which will follow this post because I merely forgot (sorry).

You can sign up for ilikemystyle.net
Purchase this issue here
*and the site also accepts entries for the opportunity to be featured so do not miss out on that.

I hope you enjoy :)

DIY: Burberry Inspired Spike Trench

This is an amazing DIY project that I don't think anyone else could have thought of, and DIY's are so fun!
I think I'm gonna start doing a few DIY's soon so stay posted for those :).

Directions:
1. Cut down chopsticks or candy apple sticks to about an inch with a handsaw or ask someone with a power table saw to cut down for you. You should end up with 164 pointy ends for each sleeve.
2. Once you finished cutting the sticks, its time to paint them! Make sure you're in a well-ventilated area and are working on a flat surface. We suggest protecting your workspace with old magazines or newspaper.
3. Apply a layer of gold spray paint to the pointy tips. Leave them on your workspace for approximately 15 minutes or until dry. Flip them over and spray the other side.
4. Before you apply the spikes to the jacket, use white chalk to outline a rectangle on each arm, starting at the shoulder and ending at the elbow. You want it to be large enough to fit approximately 24 rows and five columns, but this will vary depending on the size of your jacket and how many spikes you want on it.
5. Space the gold spikes evenly in each row and use dabs of hot glue or super glue to secure each spike onto the jacket.
6. Wait approximately 10 minutes or until the glue is completely dry before wearing the trench.

Navy

Random day at school, nothing spectacular but it is my first day back from spring break. Spring break was amazing! Aside from the funeral services that I had to attend, it was nice seeing all of my family and friends and my bed, just lovely. I definitely didn't miss school but towards the end of my break I was sort of ready to come back so that I could finish off my year strong and get to vacationing and the beautiful summer weather in Jersey.
I am taking two sessions of summer classes though, not because I need to but because I just think it's good for some extra credits. With the career I am going for (doctor) I will be in school for a while so it's best for me to do as much as I can early on so that I won't be in school forever.
I hope all of the students are having a great year!

Oh yeah and I love love love my new bag, isn't it adorable!:D
